Preschool Classes 2026-27 and beyond
My preschool spots fill up very quickly (usually a year in advance). Current students & families get first dibs on spots when they re-enroll. After that, I open "early registration" by invitation for those on the waitlist before I open spots for general registration. If you would like to put your child on a class waitlist for future years, please email me at munchkinuni@gmail.com. Getting on the waitlist does not guarantee your child a spot, but it does give you the best possible chance of getting in.
If my spots are full, here are some other home-based preschools I would recommend in the Murray/Taylorsville area:
-Michelle Butterfield with Little Butterfly Academy (Taylorsville/West Jordan border) Miss Michelle is an excellent teacher and one of my dearest friends. This is where I would send my own kids if I wasn't teaching preschool.
-Heidi Bates with Batesville Preschool (Murray/Taylorsville border) Heidi is a fantastic teacher with many years of experience. She only takes 4 year olds.
-Lori Bales teaches out of her home near Grant Elementary in Murray. She has 21 years of experience! Give her a call: 801-281-1426
-You may also want to look into the Murray Early Childhood Education Center. It's operated by Murray School District and has a lot of classes and schedule options.
-If you're looking for a much bigger, commercial preschool, I've seen a lot of good reviews for the preschool at Studio 56 called Little Learners.
-Whatever you end up choosing to do, I highly recommend registering your child for Waterford Upstart. It is a high-quality, free, online preschool program. I recommend it to all of my students, in addition to an in-person preschool experience. Upstart is only for kiddos who are in the year right before kindergarten.

Meet Miss Heather :)
-I was born and raised right here in Murray, Utah so I know and love this city! My goal is for your child to learn about the importance of being a great citizen of our city, state, and country!
-I attended a neighborhood preschool called "Dairy Meadows Preschool" where I met one of my first and very best life-long friends. My goal is to help your child develop socially, make great friends, and learn how to get along with others!
-I attended K-6th grade at McMillan Elementary where I met a life-changing teacher who inspired me to become an educator. My goal is to help your munchkins learn to set goals and encourage them to work hard to achieve them. I want them to know they can become whatever they set their heart on if they're willing to put in the work.
-I attended Hillcrest Jr. High, and graduated from Murray High School where I was very active in both athletics, academics, and music programs. My goal is to help set a super positive tone for your child's educational journey to become a life-long learner. I realize that not all students learn the same way, so it's important to me to differentiate my instruction. I use a variety of teaching methods to reach many different learning styles. I especially love using movement and music to teach concepts, so get ready to embrace some awesome preschool songs in your life!
-I earned my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from BYU-Hawaii. I completed a teaching internship in the Fiji Islands, and then student taught kindergarten at Kahuku Elementary in Hawaii. My goal is for your student to learn about our world and develop an appreciation for diversity. Preschool is a wonderful place to meet new friends from different backgrounds.
-I started a graduate program at the University of Utah in Experiential Education, but put that on hold as I started my family. My goal is to give your student a variety of fun and engaging learning experiences in which they can explore and play. I also frame our learning around themes and concepts that are meaningful to the students. Additionally, we go on at least 4 field trips a year, have several class parties, and other special days to help us learn.
-I've worked for Boys & Girls Clubs doing before-and-after-school programs. I've worked as a tutor and a substitute teacher. I taught 2nd grade for 5 years in Granite School District and earned my ESL endorsement. This is my 9th year teaching preschool and summer fun classes as the owner of Munchkin University. I keep my Utah teaching license current and stay up-to-date on research-based learning and instructional strategies. My goal is to give your child the BEST preschool experience possible and send them to kindergarten ahead of the curve. I love working with kids, and few things bring me greater joy than helping a child learn to do something new, and to have FUN doing it. I'm a huge believer in the concept that 'play is the work of a child.' My goal is to create a safe learning environment where your child is playing hard, working hard, and having a BLAST! I hope that they absolutely love their preschool experience at Munchkin University.
-Finally, I am a mom to 5 awesome daughters and have an absolutely incredible husband (aka Mr. Heather:). We are thrilled to invite you and your munchkins into our home to attend preschool. I can't wait to meet you all!
